What a crack-up

Will has been in rare form today, and I just have to share the silliness with you.

Katie was looking at my key chain and asked, "Mommy, did you buy all these keys?" It was easiest to answer, "Yes, most of them." After a second, Will said thoughtfully, "You know, as much as a car costs, you'd think they would throw in the keys for free." Bwahaha!

Today we ate at the Silver Diner, where they give children a cardboard car to play with while they wait for the food. It's about as big as a shoebox, but only half as tall, and by tucking tab A into slot B, etc., you end up with a spiffy '50s-style car. Well, service was a bit slow at the ol' Silver Diner today, and we soon had a demolition derby going on at our table. Somehow Will smacked Katie's car in such a way that all her tabs came out of all her slots, but Will's car just popped its hood tab. "How did you even do that?" I asked.

The child looked me in the face and said, "I have auto insurance. It gets you back on the road fast."

Then, I took His Royal Shagginess for a haircut, and all the stylists were freaking out over his eyelashes. (Except English wasn't their first language and they kept saying he had beautiful eyebrows.) Will has pretty much gotten used to being fussed over, so he just ignored it all and let her cut his hair. She kept on and on, not only about the eyelashes/brows, but how handsome he was overall, and how happy he was making her by how still he was sitting, and how nice his hair was, and what a nice boy he was. When we got back out to the car, he said, "Good grief, she carried on like she'd never cut a good kid's hair before!"

Those are all hilarious! I love reading about the funny things that kids say. I could have written an encyclopedia full of them when my kids were little. Definitely treasure those moments. It is good that you are recording them, because otherwise you will never remember them down the road.
