Fancy Nancy Comes To Tea

If you haven't read any of the Fancy Nancy books, you simply must. (Click the image above.) I have two Fancy Nancys in my life--my daughter and my mother. When the two of them get together, life invariably gets really interesting.

Katie & Nana have spent the last month (maybe even longer) planning a special tea party for Nana and Terry's visit. Today was the day. It was a lovely event. I took some pictures because something like this just screams to be documented in a scrapbook.

How gorgeous is this table? I pulled out all my good crystal and china. Even polished a silver sugar bowl I got years ago. Can you tell what is on the plate closest to the camera? Lay's Potato Chips. Katie was adamant that they were the most important thing to be served.
I made this cake and the roses. And I'm ridiculously pleased with myself over how it turned out. Katie thought it was gorgeous and I just felt like the best mother in the world.
See my beloved strawberry teapot? And the new plastic toy microphone that blares some song from High School Musical 2? Katie insisted that it would set the mood.

You can't really tell from this picture, but Katie is in a full-length Cinderella ball gown.
Here's the whole gang. Again, you can't tell, but Will & my dad are both wearing ties with their T-shirts.
