For April 27, 2009
Outside my Window...it's hot. I don't care for hot, personally.
I am thinking...about how much I've gotten done so far today. I stayed up too late last night and would really like to sneak in a nap.
From the learning rooms... We're learning about the Louisiana Purchase and I'm planning to make red beans and rice for dinner, although I would much prefer shrimp etouffee. Will is starting to learn division, which is probably a signal that I've just about reached my limit on teaching math. Katie is still plugging along on her reading and math. We picked up a couple of Biscuit books over the weekend that I am hoping she will enjoy.
I am thankful for... quiet moments, especially when they involve children who are not by nature quiet.
From the kitchen... I'm really trying to get on board with this red beans and rice idea, but deep down it's just not what I'm in the mood for. Maybe some cornbread to spruce it up will motivate me.
I am wearing...a black skirt and a pink top. I'm in the mood to be comfortable.
I am reading...Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. Dave Ramsey said during his Town Hall for Hope that you will be the same person five years from now, except for the books you read and the people you meet. It's time for me to start feeding my brain better!
I am hoping...for an energy boost so I can go to Wegman's for a couple of items. We're completely out of coffee filters, and if Scott comes home to a new stash, I'll be the big hero.
I am creating... some really good habits lately. A little discipline goes a long way; who knew? The household "stuff" isn't as overwhelming as it has been, plus we're getting more school done, more consistently, and enjoying the whole process more.
I am hearing... just the tapping of the keyboard. (Note to self: go see why that's all you hear-- sooner rather than later!)
Around the house.... I made a big dent in the chaos that was my scrap room yesterday. Big enough that I can actually entertain the idea of scrapping something. Some moms in our homeschool group are getting together next week to work on our various craft projects, so I'm looking forward to figuring out what to take.
Some of my favorite things...Will's eyelashes, Katie's spontaneous dance moves , Scott's apple pie scones, a great haircut, having something to look forward to, Serendipity bath bombs from iBalm
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week... I would like to take a few bags of outgrown clothes and toys to Goodwill and pick up a couple of photo albums to continue organizing my scrap room.
Here's a picture I'm sharing with you:
Katie wanted their chocolate Easter bunnies to perform a play before being eaten. Will was happy enough to go along with the idea, but I found it uncomfortable, in a Gladiator kind of way. "We who are about to die salute you!"

Hi Wendy, great daybook today! I cracked up at your comment on the chocolate bunny picture. Too funny.
Have a great day!
OH my, I enjoyed the peek into your life today! Thanks so much for sharing it. I LOVE the quote by Dave Ramsey, I try to read more, but alas, 5 tumbling boys make that all but impossible sometimes, so I cherish the quiet moments too...until I start to worry...ha ha ha! I enjoyed your picture thought, such a sweet girl you have and so imaginative. God has richly blessed you!
Blessings,
Kristy AKA Mama to the Man Crew
