For February 16, 2009
Outside my Window...it's been a rather gloomy day here. The sun seems to want to shine, but just never quite got going.
I am thinking...about a bunch of little tasks I want to wrap up before dinner.
From the learning rooms... Katie finished her Kindergarten curriculum last week and has moved on to a Summer Bridge book to keep her skills fresh until we're ready to start first grade. Will is studying birds in Bible and science and getting an overview of different states. That's really pretty interesting to both of us.
I am thankful for...charming children, homemade bread, two working cars, federal holidays.
From the kitchen...we had sandwiches for lunch made on baguettes that Scott made yesterday. I'm not usually a big sandwich fan, but they were really good! One of the little tasks niggling around in my head is the need for me to plan out the weeks' menus, so dinner will be whatever is on hand and quick. Sounds like pasta to me.
I am wearing...a red shirt and black shorts. Not because it's warm here, but because I'm planning to run up to the clubhouse and work out in a minute.
I am reading... Rachael Ray's magazine. And don't think it doesn't kill me to admit that.
I am hoping...for a pleasant evening of family togetherness.
I am creating...scrapbook pages, of course! Last night I finished Katie's ballet recital, except for the journaling. Tonight I'm going to order photos for a crop Friday night.
I am hearing...Katie working on copywork. This is harder than I thought it would be, but if Charlotte Mason and Ruth Beechick know their stuff, I'll be glad we did it.
Around the house....I hear a load of laundry spinning in the washer, which must be Scott washing his uniforms. Other than that, all the laundry is washed and folded! The kitchen, however...well, that's next on my list.
One of my favorite things....Katie's smile.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...I am going to take these children to the library tomorrow or die trying! Then we'll hit ballet and Tae Kwon Do and call it a day. Wednesday is church and Thursday is Writer's Workshop. We're all excited about Friday: I am going to a scrapbook crop at a friend's house and the kids will have a babysitter for a few hours until Scott gets home. Joy, joy, joy all around.
Here's a picture I'm sharing with you:

I'm so wish that picture had audio, because I know that Katie had some very important words to share.
