Simple Woman's Daybook

For October 6, 2008...

Outside my Window...it's so beautiful that I opened all the windows to let the air in. I don't think I've done that since we lived in Hawaii. The kids, of course, think they're freezing. (Put some clothes on, wienies.) *Update: I had to put a sweater on, too. But it's still a glorious day!

I am thinking...about our church's Trunk-or-Treat. We are still trying to come up with a super-cute idea to decorate the minivan.

From the learning rooms...Katie is going to be studying frogs this week. (Ew. The tadpole-to-frog transformation--while miraculous--completely grossed me out as a kindergartner. The tadpoles were so beautiful; the half-tadpole/half-frogs, not so much. Again: ew.) Will is wrapping up Jamestown and moving into Native Americans in history. He's also going to be learning about stars in science.

I am thankful for...Monday being a stay-at-home day.

From the kitchen...I think we'll have the last of the General Tao's Chicken out of the freezer. Quick, easy and really delicious.

I am wearing...blue jeans and...(wait for it) a red shirt. And, for the first time this season, I have on my black clogs that I live in during the fall and winter.

I am reading... blogs, blogs, blogs, blogs and more blogs. I have 117 blogs in my Google reader right now. That's just craziness.

I am hoping...and planning for a productive day.

I am creating...Christmas cards. It's never too early. (In fact, I am hoping it's not already be too late.)

I am hearing...Katie is talking to herself ("The winner is....Katie!! Oh, thank you! thank you!") and Will is playing his StarWars Lego Wii game. Some geese are flying over the house honking and I can also hear the construction crew working on a new house a block over.

Around the house...the living room needs a quick pickup, as does the playroom and my craft room. And while I'm down there, I think I'll just make a card or two.

One of my favorite things...Odwalla Strawberry C juice. Mmmm!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...We have our typical swimming lessons, ballet lessons, Tae Kwon Do, creative writing workshop and church activities. I am going to call and schedule a haircut as soon as I call Crystal and admit I lost the card she gave me. And I am going to take all this stuff to the Post Office!!! (Am I the only one who will do almost anything to avoid going to the post office?? The post office nearest our house is always crowded and the employees suffer from chronic grumpiness. There is another post office where they are so nice I don't even mind how long the line usually is, but it's 30 minutes from here.)

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Will throwing the football back and forth with Scott while we were on vacation. I love this kid.

Ah... someone else who lived in Hawaii! We lived on Maui before moving to FL. :o) I am jealous of your open windows. Hopefully we'll be able to turn the a/c off by mid-October and fling open the windows.

I just love these!

I feel like I can get totally caught up on your life in one post.

I'm longing for black clogs at the moment (was supposed to get some for my birthday, but we didn't have time to pick them up, and then I still don't have them).

I don't know what it is about the Post Office either! I procrastinate that chore even when all I have to do is drive thru the parking lot to the mailbox....how silly is that!
Sheri...not quite ready for clogs yet.

thanks for visiting my blog - twice!

I thought I had too many blogs in my Reader (75), but you have me beat by a mile. We have a local church that also does Trunk or Treat - its a very creative idea.

Enjoy your busy week.

I started filling Christmas cards out last year, but never sent them. So I guess I have a head start for this year...lol.
