Yesterday I started reading a book titled Talk Before Sleep by Elizabeth Berg. It's a fictional account that mirrors her experience of her best friend dying of breast cancer. (I teared up just typing that.) One-third of the way through it, I can't put it down; it's one of those books that I wish I could slow down and fully experience but it's so well-written and compelling that I can't do anything except read it as fast as I possibly can. When I finish it, I fully expect to be sobbing.
Oh, and this would not make the Earline Melton approved book list. But sometimes you want Chicken Soup for the Soul and sometimes you want a book that brings out every emotion you could possibly have.
