Notes from the Road

I haven't had access to my computer during the move, but I've been keeping a notebook of deep and insightful thoughts I've had, so I thought I'd go ahead and share them here. As opposed to thinking up new deep and insightful thoughts to share. That should give me a week or so of lead time to have some, um, deep and insightful thoughts. I know you're all dying to see the New House, but I probably won't be posting pictures until next week; I'm grateful to have dial-up access while I wait for the DSL, but the thought of trying to upload pictures at dial-up speed makes my eye twitch.

Our last stop before leaving on this new adventure was to pick up Krypto from the kennel. Assuming we had been on vacation, the woman there asked politely, "Did you have a good time?" I was pretty sure I would cry if I explained the whole story to her, so I just smiled and said, "Yes, it was wonderful."

Because it really, truly was.

July 1--A good sign
On my first day in Illinois, I saw a huge banner on a furniture store that said "WE LOVE SCOTT AFB." At a glance, I thought it was a personalized welcome just for us, and I took it as a very good sign.

On my first day here, I saw a license plate that started "AEB1" Another good sign!

I keep going back to something Scott said last week--"I hope the next three years go as fast as these last three." I'm not so concerned about the speed that the assignment passes; I just hope this assignment will be as happy.

I hope so too. I saw you were finally settled when I "caught" you on my site tracker. Glad that you are able to post again.

It is so good to hear that you are all settled in! How are you doing with everything? How are the kids?
We played bunco Friday night and it was not the same without you there. Miss you!
